 In our last episode for Season 3, Karen talks to Dr. Brian Frederick about the vulnerability of going missing within the LGBTQ+ community. He explains the importance of providing support and safe spaces for vulnerable young people. He is currently conducting a landscape analysis on what kind of resources countries have for LGBTQ+ community.

Dr. Brian Frederick

Dr. Brian J. Frederick is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at SUNY Empire State University in New York City. His research focuses on the intersection of LGBTQIA+ individuals with crime, deviance, and transgression, as well as the stigmatization, marginalization, and oppression they face through criminal justice and public health interventions. Dr. Frederick serves as a subject-matter expert on several true crime television series, including “Meet, Marry, Murder” and “Making a Serial Killer.” In his spare time, he volunteers as “Sister Krista Furrstreet” with the NYC (dis)Order of Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, advocating for social justice and community empowerment within the LGBTQIA+ community through creative and educational initiatives.
